Down Memory Lane of Sun Moon Lake Teachers’Hostel

In March 1950, the former head of Hall of Education, Mr Liu Zhen, commissioned a teachers’ hostel to be built on the shores of the scenic Sun Moon Lake. This first block, Rubai was built by renowned architect Madam Xiu Zelan executed the project and a young sculptor Mr Yang YingFeng designed the avant garde facade.
Unfortunately this was to be Mr Yang’s only design of this ilk - the facade’s reliefs of both the Gods of the Sun and the Moon that represented by the Spirit de Corps of this hostel were destroyed during the 921 earthquake, remaining only as memories to the world.
